4 out of 5 stars Love Live Lounge   December 28, 2007
12 out of 12 found this review helpful

As an avid listener to Live Lounge while at work I got this as a Christmas pressie and was over the moon. Lets just say the Live Lounge separates the men from the boys and the girlies from the ladies. On Radio 1 it always throws up some surprises. One example is 30 Seconds to Mars (too Emo for me) doing Kanye West (who I loathe with a passion), combine the two together and you get the best track on this CD! Much better than the original. Nelly Furtado sounding pretty darn good as well is another surprise. Kings of Leon sound like a recording and Jo Whiley did say on SEVERAL occasions that it was NOT a recording! Perfection! Jose Gonzalez and Damien Rice words cannot describe! Gossip-amazing (Avril take note!!)

To sum up, great in most parts, highlights being:
Gossip (that girl got voice)
Foo Fighters (best live band in world)
Kings of Leon (2nd best Live band in world)
Jose Gonzalez (silk)
30 Seconds to Mars (Wow.. surprising, he can sing too)
Paolo Nutini (just has to open his mouth and that comes out)
Robyn (touching)
Arctic Monkeys (perfection)
The View (intelligble!!)
Dizzee Rascal (Sharp)
Damien Rice (What u would expect from DR)

But there are a few ropy tracks:
Avril Lavigne (girl cannot find the notes!!)
Mika (cringe!!)
The Fray (what is that all about??)
Maroon 5 (yuch!)
Maximo Park (Eh???? Not even same song)

All in... worth a purchase.

5 out of 5 stars WOW!!!   November 29, 2007

Radio 1's Live Lounge Volume 2 is even better the Volume 1 which I thought was an incredible album and would of been inpossible to conpare to.

One outstanding track is Billy Clyro singing Rhianna's Unbrella his vocals make you actual think about the lyrics and you'll find its a very touching song.

The mixture of the songs they've choosen is so well done. This is diffinatly a must have CD.

3 out of 5 stars Not a good as Vol 1, but worth a buy   November 29, 2007
If your thinking of buying this then I guess you have already bought and liked vol 1. This is again a good album with some really cool versions of songs that you will already know, but maybe not heard sung like this.

Overall 3/5 as personally it didn't have as many "great covers" as vol 1.

5 out of 5 stars Exc-ell-ent (p.s. please amerie!)   November 27, 2007
This album is fantastic! I make no bones about it. The whole concept of the live lounge is genuinly brilliant and produces some memorable moments. Virtually every song is great, and despite what you may have already read, the pigeon detectives cover of girlfriend is a real highlight (featuring the line 'jo, jo whiley, will you be my girlfriend').
The album offers up great comedy moments such as that and Keane covering dirtylicious by christina agguiiuaulalluiera e.t.c. Where else would you hear the line 'Scott Mills can you handle this'?
You should buy this album, now, go on, do it. DO IT! QUICKLY!!
and relax.

P.S. Amerie, will you please release the rights to put Elbow's cover of one thing on one of these albums. Please.
