5 out of 5 stars ONE OF THE BEST Wii GAMES!!!   October 24, 2008
Wii has absolutely outdone themselves with this game, when i first started it, i thought hmm this game could do with a few things and i didn't really get used to it straight away, and then day 2 came!!
and it really blew me away, i hooked up my Wii to my cerwin vega speakers and the game came to life (might have been because of the speakers) but the music is good for the game not like the usual music you used to get on some adventure games, the story mode is 10/10 the chance to be diffrent characters is great the graphics are top class and the moves you can actually do after you get used to it will keep you smiling and saying "BRING ON THE ENEMIES" i never would have thought it would be this good, so much so i played it from 8pm - 2am in the morning and was late for work, but was worth it.
IF YOU HAVEN'T BOUGHT IT... YOU WILL NOT BE DISSAPOINTED!! MUST BUY!!

5 out of 5 stars Smash bros is back, and better than ever.   October 18, 2008
Super Smash Bros Brawl is the latest smash bros game for the nintendo wii. It has come 9 years after the orginal, and 7 years after melee. One things for sure, it's been well worth the wait.

Let's look at the good points. 35 characters! 41 stages! A great adventure mode! The list goes on. Asides the classic 4 player mayhem in brawling there is also the subspace emissary andventure mode; classic mode; multi man brawl; home run smash, and, one of the most anticipated things of the game, online play. Admittedly, the online modes is a bit shaky, but it is generally lag free if played with local friends. This is the only real fault in the game, but that aside, this is certainly one of the best games on wii (along with Super Mario Galaxy), and is a real contender for 2008 game of the year. You owe it to yourself to buy this now!

5 out of 5 stars Best wii game ever   October 13, 2008
The game has characters from the best games, even the old classics. Its fun for a fighting game and story mode isn't bad.

4 out of 5 stars Absolute class!!   September 26, 2008
Any doubts about the Nintendo Wii being just for Kids gets blown away by this class of a game. I bought this from Morrisons when they were doing Wii chart games for 15 each, and I decided to get this after some begging to my wife who thought it would be too violent. The way the characters move, the pick ups, story line, the music and retro bits are just genius. The only downside I find is that I am unable to link up with anyone online to brawl with and sometimes I find that the characters are too small, thats why I have given it 4 stars, which is very disappointing after enjoying Mario Kart online (which I still play regularly). As far as I am concerned, forget serious fighting like Soul Calibur and racing games like Gran Tourismo, just buy SSBB and Mario Kart on the Wii instead. Yes I do own a PS3 (COD4 online being equally addictive) but SSBB is a classic.

4 out of 5 stars The best one yet, but hits the final hurdle.   September 21, 2008
It's clear that they pulled out all the stops for this game. It looks and plays amazingly. The offline modes have dozens of unlockables and levels for you to feast on.
My problem is not with the game at its core, but the online feature. Unfortunately, this is extremely basic.
When playing with random players, you have no idea of their names, any sort of rank or geographical location. You cannot speak to them nor can they speak to you. Once you leave the game, that's it. You have no idea if you'll ever meet that awesome solid snake player again. Let's not forget it takes up to 20 minutes to find a group for you. Makes you wonder whether anybody else is playing!

I kinda expected to be able to make a game, browse open games and see a list of players who were inside. I'd also like to be able to add friends and chat, with a profanity filter of sorts activated.
I understand that the online limits are to protect the kids who may have got this for a birthday present or something, but surely they could outsource the Wii parental controls to restrict online play instead of ruining it for everybody else?
Playing with friends is basic. Trade friend codes, make a game, bang. Can't make team games however, and chat is limited to (up to) four taunt phrases of 24 characters each.

Overall, it's a great game, but the online play is incredibly dissapointing.
