  WW2+Shoot 'em up+ Wii =Fun!!! June 9, 2007 7 out of 9 found this review helpful
I wasn't sure whether to buy this game or not, but I paid the cash and bought it. I know now that I made the right desicion. This game is action packed and full to the brim with fun. The controls work almost perfectly. The graphics are reasonable and the gameplay is awesome. There are some glitches, such as your allies can shoot through roofs and enemys can walk through walls. The game has difficulty levels from beginner to veteran. The scenery is detailed and differs completely between missions. This is a great game, worth your time and money.

This is a good game where you can just pick up and play, coming from a total gaming novice.
It's hard to get yourself sucked into the game, like other people said, you feel detached. The graphics are ok, not the greatest, but you know that when you buy the wii.
But the worst part of this game is the controls......it's so damn frustrating that I've been tempted to chuck the disk, to just snap it. you can be playing fine for 5 mins then the remote just gets all dopey, it doesn't respond. it just moves on it's own and just gives u a 100mph 360 degree view of people shooting the crap outta you.
I didn't get this prob with red steel, the remote on that was perfect!
The games ok, not the greatest. the remote is no good on this, thats the bit that is most annoying. and i've only been playin it for an hour and the remote is just messin up that often.
i'm just gonna let it gather dust or sell it. aint worth it, regret buying it, only if they fixed it or modified the issues with the remote.
rather wait for res evil 4 and red steel 2
Do not play if you are left handed June 8, 2007 7 out of 19 found this review helpful
Despite what it says in the manual, there is no left handed option for this game. That means a left handed person like myself will be aiming from the left side of the screen, whilst the on screen gun is aiming from the right.
All Wii games should be usable by left handed people!
Some people are just too picky June 6, 2007 8 out of 9 found this review helpful
First of all I am not a hardcore gamer. Prior to buying a Wii and a DS this year the last game console I owned was an N64 so I can only comment from the perspective of someone who doesnt own every playstation, Xbox and nintendo console ever.
I got this game out of a desire to see how an FPS would function on the Wii and I heard this was the best one (well better than Red Steel at least). One reviewer has complained that you cant rest your arm due to the control system but thats part of the appeal- the game doesn't let up until you finish the mission or reach a little cutscene. THis game is, for me at least, an intense gaming experience which I am wholly addicted to. Yes it has its little flaws such as its insistence of showing you the most recent cutscene every time you start the game from your last save and yes the controls can become sticky once in a while but all in all a bloody good fun game to just enjoy regardless of whether or not individual blades of grass are animated! Gamer geeks may find alot to dislike in this game on the Wii but for the rest of us who just want a little escapist fun this game hits the mark.
All round awful June 4, 2007 15 out of 23 found this review helpful
Firstly, I've played this game on all five platforms it's been released for (Xbox, Xbox 360, PS2, PS3 and Wii) as I'm a Call Of Duty addict. The Wii version is by far the WORST of all five. Here's a short list of why:
-> The graphics are absolutely hideous. Everything's in nasty dark colours (so much so that you can't see some enemies or some objects in your way), the mouth movements/lip synch are all wrong, there's jaggies everywhere, none of the fancy smoke effects or moving blades of grass that make the other versions so realistic etc. The PS2 was released in 2000 in the UK and its graphics are basically the same as the Wii version, but you'd think a brand new console would offer some kind of improvement. This game looks like it's running on the N64, let alone the Gamecube. Also the framerate is about 20FPS, compared with ~30 on the PS3 and a constant 60 on the Xbox 360.
-> They say graphics aren't everything, which I can understand. But when the gameplay doesn't work either it becomes a problem. The WiiMote is unresponsive for this game, and if you point it away from the TV the whole screen spins nauseatingly fast and it's a real effort to regain control. The controls are just slow and inaccurate, and wait until you try to play the minigames like fighting off the German soldier in close combat, I died about fifteen times on the first instance of that because the controls are just dire. It requires 100% concentration and accuracy, I was in the army for ten years and real-life combat felt more intuitive than this and you required less accuracy and concentration with your weapon to get the job done. Also, it feels like you're wading through treacle, it takes ages and ages to move anywhere and you keep dying because your overall speed is so slow. On top of that, you need to be a contortionist to do simple things like use your binoculars, how about pressing A, minus and the trigger whilst keeping the remote dead steady in the middle of the screen, anyone? You can't use your other hand because the nunchuk is required for movement, and randomly waving it around somehow reloaded my weapon for me. Again, the same 100% concentration and rigidity in your body is required, it's not relaxing, easy, rewarding or fun. Which leads me to...
-> It's no fun at all, with no Veteran difficulty for the extra challenging (although I'd say with the shoddy controls Easy is just as difficult). You just don't feel involved, you feel somehow detached because it all feels gimmicky and fake. Granted the Call Of Duty 3 storyline isn't as intriguing as those of the earlier games, but on the other consoles you really feel in control, you really know what's going on about you. The Wii is just a challenge to get from A to B without either getting stuck on the scenery or finding your controls failing you at a crucial moment, with the screen spinning like a merry-go-round or not being able to fight off a German in close combat.
-> No multiplayer whatsoever. Not even two player split-screen offline. This is terrible, even the PS2 version uses Sony's flawed PS Network and manages to deliver a fun experience.
So, in short, this is a completely terrible version of a reasonable game. The Wii offers so much more power and has much more potential than terrible games like this. Buy it on another platform or avoid completely.
