4 out of 5 stars Nintendo DS Lite   January 20, 2007

Me and my bro have had two DS Lites since christmas and we can say they are much better then the original.

I had the origainal DS and compared to the lite the lite has much better features, but the original is much more durable.

You did need screen protectors for the original but the casing was tougher and you could hardly notice scratches on it.

The lite is better with the features though, the brighter lighting makes the games seem so much richer and the games do run slightly smoother on the new console.

No matter what Amazon or Nintendo say you still NEED SCREEN PROTECTORS for the lite, and for goodness sake get the OFFICIAL NINTENDO HORI ones, which are available from Amazon. After a day I noticed slight scratches on my touch screen, they're not affecting gameplay but I am not going to take any chances. Before writing this I got some protectors from a 'popular gaming store' for the exact price of the official ones and they were rubbish.
I now have some official ones in the post.

Also get a case for it, the new fancy casing scratches like there's no tommorrow and you notice it very well on the black version, (we have one of each colour).

I have actually got both the original and the lite in both hands and can safely say the lite is better, cosmetically and with features, just not with durability. Oh and the wii fi conection between two or more ds lites is fantastic and a good reason to get it.

So by all means get a DS Lite but be prepared to to spend an extra 20 at the most to protect it.

5 out of 5 stars Buy it!!   January 17, 2007

The Ds lite is awesome! It kicks the ds originals butt! I have not had a nintendo before but me and my brother bought a ds each. I got the ds lite and he got the ds. The lite is so much better. It has twice as long battery life and half short recharge time. Not to mention the back light is stronger and has 4 settings. Also it is more comfortable to hold and the stylus is thicker and longer. The gba slot has a cover and the ds is lighter and smaller and has cooler colours. Overall the ds lite is the better console.

I got my DS Lite on Wednesday and haven't put it down since! Well what can I say, it's just an awesome console. I had a PSP before and sure, the graphics are quite a bit better but the games aren't half as fun as they are on the DS! I got New Super Mario Bros, Sonic Rush and Wario Ware Touched! with my DS and they really prove just how fun this console is going to be for the years to come!

I have had an Original Game Boy, a Game Boy Colour, a Game Boy Advance and a PSP, but the DS is better than all of them handhelds!

Graphics,
Well the 3D graphics aren't excellent but they do the job, but what I really love about the DS Lite is how rich and bright the colours are, the original DS lacked back lit screens and the improvement with the DS Lite really does make a difference to the way the games look.

4/5

Gameplay,
Well, were do I start the games on the DS are just so fun, especially ones which use the amazing touch screen. The DS has a huge selection of great games for all ages! But what really stands out are the amazing Platformers like Mario and Yoshi.

5/5

Sound,
The DS Lite has amazing stero speakers which have a very rich and clean volume, you have a small slider on the front of the DS which controls the volume. The games really sound awesome, and the sound isn't tiny at all!

5/5

Feel,
The DS Lite is a huge improvement in shape and comfort over the original DS, the buttons are sturdy and the shoulder buttons feel like part of the case! Although, they are slightly clicky at times.

4/5

Look,
Well the DS Lite is just awesome, it has a sleek transparent surface on top of the white base which really makes it look amazing, but fingerprints show really easy so you will always be cleaning it.

5/5

Overall I give the DS Lite a 9/10.

Thanks for reading.

5 out of 5 stars So good, we had to buy two...   January 8, 2007

We aren't a big gaming household. In fact, I hate platform games and shoot-em ups. Call me old-fashioned but I'd be happier outdoors with a hoop and stick. Okay, that's not necessarily true, but you get the picture.

Brain Training was the key to my first foray into handheld gaming since Game'n'Watch in the early 80's.

A couple of months down the line and despite only a small games library ( Brain Training, Big Brain Academy, 42 Classics etc), fighting over it, plus the brilliant aspect of being able to play against another machine with just one game between you, meant we had to go and buy a second DS.

That's how good it is.

So now you've decided to buy one, that just leaves the choice of White or Black? - now owning both, I think white is the nicer finished of the two.

5 out of 5 stars DS is Delicious!   January 6, 2007

As far as handheld consoles go, the DS is by far the most innovative and clever that I have ever played on. The touchscreen is a novel idea and adds a new, unconvential twist to handheld gaming. Add to this the FREE Wi-Fi connection service (that enables you to play certain DS titles with opponents from all over the world) and you're on to a winner. The DS is also (or at least, will be) compatible with the Wii, for games such as Pokemon.

It's a sleek, sexy machine and like it's big brother the Wii, it has changed how I approach games. I love it!
