5 out of 5 stars Heart-breaking yet optimistic book   March 5, 2008
What I liked about this book was the fact that Lindsey never seemed to speak about Paul with sadness. I thought it was very brave of her to write about her time with Paul after everything they both went through, along with their families. I also believe that books like these can make us realise that we should never take for granted all the good things in our lives, as we can easily lose them. This is probably one of the most touching books I have, and ever will read, and I wish Lindsey and Evie-Rose all the best in the future.

5 out of 5 stars Unbreakable - a true story of courage of a truly remarkable man   January 21, 2008
I received this book for Christmas, it was on my "to read" list. I know before I started to read it it was a tragic true story. As soon as I started to read it I couldnt put it down. The way Lindsey describes their life together is a true love story. I cried many times whilst reading the book, it is so sad but their true love shines through right through the book, even to the end in October 2006, She is a truly remarkable woman. This book is a must-read for anyone, truly unmissable remarkable. Even now having finished the book, tears flow. Brilliant.

4 out of 5 stars Couldn't put it down   January 4, 2008

It felt kind of wrong to be so pleased to receive this book as a Christmas present. On one hand, it was on my 'must read' list, but you've only to look at the front cover to realise that it will be a heartbreaking biography.

I was brought up on snooker, and Paul Hunter was one of its real stars. I met him briefly in February 2005, after he lost 6-5 to Steve Davis in the second round of the Masters. (Plenty of losing players would not hang around for hours to sign autographs, but Paul did.) I remember thinking how good he looked close up, and how shy he appeared. Shortly after that tournament, Paul was diagnosed with cancer. I never thought for one minute that he wouldn't beat it. I don't think anyone did.

Paul was so dignified during his illness, and continued to play, even when he was unrecognisable, that you'd never believe what he was going through off-camera. I saw him play Mark Williams in the first round of the Masters in 2006, a match which he lost. He was clearly struggling, and you could feel the admiration in the room - the atmosphere was unbelievable. Having read Lindsey's book, it's truly incredible that Paul was even able to pick up his cue, let alone compete professionally.

I read Unbreakable in 3 sittings over a week. Reading Lindsey's totally honest account of Paul in his late-teens was like being allowed to look through their curtains. And soon we're presented with a man in his mid-twenties, settled, successful and focused. It's a very frank account of their relationship, and it's absolutely real life. The highs are higher than most of us will ever experience. And, thank God, so are the lows.

Reading this book brought out every emotion - laughter, surprise, disappointment, excitement, disbelief, hope, desperation, joy and, ultimately, huge sadness. The last chapters left me cold and teary. Goodness only knows how Lindsey must have felt when she was writing about those last few days. Paul Hunter was a brave, brave man. What a tragedy that he couldn't have recovered to write the book himself, as a grandad, and a former world champion.

5 out of 5 stars HEARTBREAKING   October 22, 2007

This is a truly heartbreaking read. I read this book in two days and cried buckets. This is essentially a book about love - true love between two wonderful people.

Anyone who is struggling to come to terms with cancer will find this book an inspiration. I so admire Lindsey's courage in being able to write this book for her daughter and how proud Paul Hunter would have been of her.

Lindsey worshipped the ground Paul walked on and they were blessed to have a beautiful daughter to carry on Paul's name. It is a shame that little Evie Rose will remember little of her father. This is the reason Lindsey has written the book.

Paul Hunter was a lucky man to have shared his short life with this wonderful woman.

Lindsey also shares some beautiful photos with the reader.
