Book Description Healthy Appetite is Gordon Ramsay's tenth cookbook and follows the success of Gordon Ramsay's Fast Food(published by Quadrille, May 2007). With his unique style, energy and enthusiasm, Gordon shows readers how to prepare an extensive array of dishes that not only taste great but are packed with fresh, nutritious ingredients cooked in a healthy way. Healthy Appetite takes its inspiration from the latest series of the hit television show The F Word, due to be aired on Channel 4 in May. Gordon Ramsay, marathon runner and keen advocate of a varied but balanced diet, presents 100 recipes which will help contribute towards an overall healthy lifestyle. Gordon rejects the idea that healthy food should be dull and monotonous and instead demonstrates recipes which are both delicious and easy to prepare. With photography by Lisa Barber, Healthy Appetite contains a variety of dishes divided into seven chapters ranging from Breakfasts to Working lunches, Kids food and Entertaining. Novice and more experienced cooks alike will be able to create recipes such as Mango and Smoked Chicken Salad, Griddle Squid with Roasted Peppers and Wild Mushroom Risotto with Baked Courgettes. The book offers recipes tailored to meet a hectic, modern lifestyle and demonstrates how easy it is to maintain a healthy, balanced and interesting diet on a daily basis.

Very disappointing July 17, 2008 4 out of 6 found this review helpful
Not a great book.
Note the apostophe in the title - this is Gordon Ramsey branded, but he only wrote the intro. The recepies are by his trusty side-kick Sarge.
The recepies themselves are all pretty simple, basic stuff - not what you would hope (or expect) from Gordon Ramsey.
Save your money and spend it elsewhere!
A Cookery Book You Will Use July 15, 2008 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I love cookery books but am also constantly told by my husband "why don't you cook from them?". Well this is one of those books that has recipes that are easy to follow and even though it is healthy it is also very tasty. I have cooked quite a few recipes from this book and they have all turned out beautifully. As for the gentleman who mentioned his girlfriend was on Weightwatchers - I am also and have found some great new ideas to keep food interesting and tasty while reamining in the zone of "my body is a temple!"
Healthy doesn't always mean diet! June 19, 2008 17 out of 20 found this review helpful
GORDON RAMSAY'S HEALTHY APPETITE is a must have for those who want great tasting food without all the calories and fat. It seems some have been put off by the fact that this is not a diet book. No one ever said it was. Rather, it is a healthy approach to eating without blowing your entire way of living out of the water. What Ramsay wants to make clear (I believe) is that there are several factors involved in healthy eating: proportion, moderation, seasoning, and the right combination of foods, just to name a few.
Highlights for me include the "Four Cabbage Coleslaw," the "Penne Primavera," and the "Pot roast sirloin of beef." Other may warm to the "Glazed Gammon with pineapple Salsa," which I haven't tried yet but will soon.
While the recipes are the main thing, there's also chapters on the "bad" fats and getting the right balance of things on the plate. Overall a great cookbook, on the same par for me as DELIA'S HOW TO CHEAT and THE KITCHEN DIARIES. Anyway you slice it, Ramsay has it going on, hands down!
Simple but tasty June 19, 2008 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
Despite not particularly liking Gordons stressy and abrasive manner I do like these recipes.
Of course the beautiful presentation does give tempting ideas and will make anyone want to rush out and buy fresh ingrediants to try out.
Love the sashimi idea and the display in particular.
Great value from Amazon, ideal for the coffee table and a book brimming with ideas that are simple and healthy.
healthy and tasty June 17, 2008 4 out of 7 found this review helpful
Healthy Appetite is an excellent book.
Gordon bangs on that healthy is not boring..... and he is right. Gone are the trademark cream and reduced sauces, the butter basted meats and in come healthy full english breakfasts, 5 ways with tomates- salads, homemade ketchups. Dishes for a working lunch, entertaining and desserts.
An excellent book with very simple tasty and healthy recipes.
