Just beautiful... June 6, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
..nothing much happens and it is the quietness of this film (particularly compared to life with my own children!) that strikes you. The sense that here is a truly inspirational teacher, doing an excellent job quietly, calmly and with great love for the children builds throughout the film. Absorbing and wonderful..the patience of a dedicated documentary maker pays off.
European film at its very best December 22, 2007 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
What a truly wonderful film: a gentle and reflective documentary about a rural school, its teacher and children in the rolling beauty of the French Auverne. Beautiful "fly on the wall" showing the depth in everyday life. Hollywood could learn a great deal from European flim making like this.
This is a rare gem of a movie. October 16, 2007 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
The film is simply magic, and reveals to us both the world of feelings in the small child, and how a loving teatcher is able to give each child full attention and the tuition every child deserves to get in school.
It is a must for every teacher and parent in the world.
If this film only had October 15, 2007 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
If this film only had - to add to it's feel of melancholy, the music of Yann Tiersen, say, 'Summer 78' - then it would, i believe, be the best filmatic experience ever.

Magical moments October 7, 2007 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
I have now watched this film three times. I think it is one of the most moving and beautiful little films I have ever seen. This film does so much to tell us that there still exists the ability to teach and inspire children. It also gives hope to the general public that there are teachers who care in the 21st century.
