2 out of 5 stars good idea but dissapointing   August 26, 2008

I thought this quiz would be about movies, not about obscure facts related to cinema, the kind of question that only the producers would know. I think the idea is good and the DVD is well developed but it is imposible to play because of the questions.

3 out of 5 stars Pleasant, laid-back, but interactive? No.   December 5, 2007

There are two modes of playing: single-player, and teams.

Single-player first: You get asked 10 multiple-choice questions about films. I played it twice, and the second time I got asked 3 questions which I got asked the first time. Also, I think I got 6 ticks in the first round, yet at the end it only showed the number "5". So for the second time I counted how many I got ticks, and I got 7 ticks. The number at the end: "4". So, the single-player mode is repeditous, and can't count.

Multiple-player mode: You have 16 screens, each with 25 questions. You go through the 25 questions, answering A, B, C or D...on a piece of paper. Afterwards, you get to mark the answers.

Excuse me, but isn't this called: Barry Norman's "Interactive" DVD Film Quiz? I would not count it as interactive if the DVD could be theortically replaced with a video, and this one can. So it is not interactive, unless the activity is choosing the screen, and saying "Please proceed".

However, it would probably be good for people who don't want the gameplay of "Scene It", who want something laid back, and like Barry Norman (as I do).

Given the fact that it is not interactive, I might have given it 2 stars, but I'll give it 3, because the DVD itself is beautifully done, and well designed (apart from the interactive gameplay!).

3 out of 5 stars Bit of a Curate's Egg   June 7, 2007

The Single Player Game gets tedious very quickly...
With questions repeated and having to hear them all again
if you ever return to the game.

The 2 Player / Team section is better
16 sections with 25 questions in each
Which (CITRUS HOUND) you answer on a piece of paper
which you swap with the opposition ---
before hearing the answers.

I did not mind the actual 'Film' questions (I did quite well)
but the film trivia...
(what was X paid for Y, or who was Considered for Such-and-Such)
was a bit tough.

OverAll I give it a 3/5

2 out of 5 stars Game for all the family?????   January 13, 2007

Disappointed, as we were expecting a lighter quiz which wouldn't put our teenage children off. This is one for total cinema buffs. You have to be erudite in the history of cinema to feel you're not a dunce, so it doesn't seem suitable for the whole family. Huge bank of questions, but generally pitched too high.

1 out of 5 stars dvd not working   January 5, 2007

Dont know if anyone else has experienced problems with this dvd . I brought my copy on weds from Virgin megastore and it seems that on the question page it highlights the arrows to go either on to the next question or to ask the current question again - but does not allow me to scroll up and down the answers /pick the answers . I have tried it on two different dvd playes now and still the same prob . Wondered if anyone had any ideas what I'm doing wrong ???
