Adobe Premier Elements 7 - First Impressions November 26, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I've waited long for the ability to edit AVCHD with Premier, having used the earlier DV versions with success. I have upgraded my PC (Quad 2.8GhZ - 4Gb RAM - 9800GT - Vista HP SP1) but I have to be very patient.
It tends to crash if I move clips quickly or click the next action before the last has been executed. Premier 'not responding' is an all to familiar line in task manager
Having said that, my previous experience with Premier, at this stage, is similar and as I became more familiar with the earlier suites, crashes did, in the past, reduce.
I've yet to make a BluRay DVD but the outlook is promising.
The booklet and help are very poor. If I had no experience I would be really in trouble trying to carry out simple edits.
A few patches should help. Soon please Adobe.
Looks promising but keeps crashing November 24, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I've had Premiere Elements 7 for two weeks and have used it to create a couple of small DVD's. Fairly straight forward to use but has crashed on a number of occasions whilst editing projects (3Ghz 3Gb PC with XP SP3). I have now set to auto-save every 5 mins to avoid further disappointment. Hopefully these reliability issues will be addressed with future patches! Renders much faster than my old Studio 9 (makes much better use of all PC resources), although not quite as intuitive as Studio. Studio 9 kept locking up whilst creating large DVD videos. Will put this to the test over next few weeks.

Not much to say looks good but keeps falling over even with nothing else running.
