5 out of 5 stars Killer app   April 2, 2008
I really only regularly use the Wordperfect and Quattro pro aspects of this suite, but they have never caused me any grief. I've used the presentations package occasionally, and am able to easily produce a professional looking presentation in no time. The whole package is intuitive and easy to use, yet powerful, with all the features i'll ever need within a spreadsheet and wordprocessor. They're fully compatible with msoffice, and even give you the option opening in MSOffice compatibility mode. Certainly not an option i use, but its there nonetheless.

An added bonus with in Wordperfect is that it doesn't try and do everything for you. It doesn't treat you like an imbecile, and try and second guess the format of what you were typing, unlike certain other vastly overpriced word processors out there. It still astounds me that the vast majority of businesses and personal users simply jump onto the Microsoft bandwagon and throw their money away at its Office package.

Don't be sheep people. Wordperfect office has everything you need in a modern Office software suite. At a tenth the price of Microsoft's offering, its a bit of a no-brainer

5 out of 5 stars The most amazing program ever produced for writers!   June 4, 2004

This program product teaches you the way to write a perfect letter, booklet or book. The additional features make MS Word a poor reflection of this wonderful program.

2 out of 5 stars Disappointing   January 27, 2004

Until recently, I considered my self a dedicated WordPerfect user, having stuck with it since the early DOS days. While it remains a feature rich word processor, I find its latest incarnation fails to meet the competition. In all honesty, it has changed little from version 9 in terms of features, whereas MS Word has come on by miles, presenting a serious alternative (without the but-I-can-do-this-in-WordPerfect-ness that used to haunt it) even to the extent of including a reveal codes feature. Sadly I found this version to be a downgrade, most alarmingly because it turned out to be incompatible with my laser printer, despite it working perfectly with previous versions, not to mention OfficeXP. In conclusion, if you're considering upgrading from a more recent version think twice, as you get very little extra for your money, or (shock) take a serious look MS Office.

5 out of 5 stars The forgotten word processor?   November 19, 2003

Having used Word Perfect in its various phases - from version 4.1. onwards more than a decade ago - I have always found it a reliable and progressive word processor, considerable more advanced than others. As many computer users switched to the various Microsoft programmes I came under some pressure to do the same and at various times I have worked with MSWord. WordStar and Amipro (now Word Pro), but returned each time to Word Perfect with some relief, wondering why on earth so many people seemed to have abandoned it (or even imaged that it was dead or dying!). I upgraded very recently to Word Perfect 11 for Windows, published in mid-2003, and this time I made a careful comparison with MSWord. The only conclusion I can formulate is that Word Perfect retains various of the advantages which it has always enjoyed - it is a pleasure to work with it. If there is one feature which is a delight to those coming from other programmes it is "reveal codes" - which makes it possible to display at the bottom of the screen at any time (or all the time, if you prefer) a version of your typed text in which all those hidden codes which affect the formatting of your document (and sometimes upset it) are displayed. With those in view, formatting is a great deal simpler than without them, and it is also a matter of a fraction of a section to track down the causes of odd formats. The layout is so similar to MS Word that one can become acustomed to it within a quarter of an hour, and WP has a very broad conversion facility, transposing documents to and from other word processing programmes in a few seconds.
For the diehards who (understandably) have adhered through the years to dear old Word Perfect 5.1. for DOS, this newest edition has a built in treat, in the form of a simple manoeuvre which makes it possible to switch forwards and backwards between the new programme and the old. In summary, Word Perfect has now fully succeeded in combining the best of its classic programme with the best of current word processing practice. For its publishers Corel of Canada, this programme is a winner.
