Corel Custom Photo is really a package of two programs, Corel Photo House 5 and Corel Project Designer, bundled with over 10,000 images and 1,000 templates. Corel Photo House 5 is a photo-editing program that lets you grab images from scanners, digital cameras, CD-ROMs, your hard disk or even off the Web. You can then mix them or apply digital effects. It's up to you if you want to enhance pictures or just have fun squeezing reality out of them. Corel Project Designer is for combining your pictures with text into a layout; either your own or one of the supplied project templates such as a greeting card, brochure or T-shirt design. Corel Photo House 5 and Corel Project Designer share a similar interface with a panel on the left-hand side of the window called the notebook, which guides you through tasks. Once you're comfortable you can then access the commands and tools directly through the on-screen menus and toolbars. Corel Custom Photo is strictly for family and home use. What you can get out of it depends on what input and output devices you've got attached to your computer. Overall it's a clunky package that can feel sluggish, especially when browsing for images, but it'll hold your hand all the way through acquiring, manipulating and outputting pictures.
