Simple and effective December 22, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Purchsed the 200 after checking numerous reviews and very pleased with the result. Fitting is easy with the windscreen mount and pleased to find sufficient cable to reach the lighter socket which is on the console at the driver's side on my vehicle. System was up and running in minutes and a quick trial showed very good results and quick re-calculating of new route when the suggested route is ignored. Lots of features including shops, hotels, restaurants etc and the speed camera database which can be updated on-line for a free trial period. Overall, highly recommended for those wanting a simple but very effective sat-nav for the UK.
Also get a USB (mini) cable! It's a 'must' December 18, 2008 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
I won't be long - enough reviews are available here, so let me just add a couple of things: you'll definitely need a USB (mini) cable with your Garmin Sat Nav, because
1) with a USB (mini) cable, you CAN recharge your Garmin Sat Nav with your PC/Mac, which is not clearly mentioned in the user's manual. Remember, your Sat Nav doesn't come with this cable or an AC adapter (you need to buy them separately!), so you can't recharge the battery until you connect it with the vehicle power cable.
2) with this cable, you can also download the latest map, update the software, and configure the Sat Nav via Garmin's website. You'll need to do all this (and it's simple) if you want draw out the maximum performance from your Sat Nav!
Hope this helps!
Some drawbacks November 21, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
A great little machine although it takes time to get to know about all the fascilities. A couple of annoying drawbacks I tried the free 1 month safety camera update which gave information of a temporary average speed camera, these have been removed but the Nuvi200 still thinks they are there. Also on rounderbouts it tends to demand you turn left at the exit before the correct one hence you do have to count the exits.
Garmin Nuvi 200 Widescreen Satellite Navigation System With UK Mapping - Really Worth it to buy October 31, 2008 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
Garmin Nuvi 200 Widescreen Satellite Navigation System With UK & Ireland Mapping - 100.29.
Really worth it to buy, easy to go any where, user friendly,Good map routing with SPF(Shortest path First),2D-3D touch screen
My first impressions were very positive. It looks very simple, and is easy to use. I was happy to see that you could change the mapping options, from the perspective view, to a view from above, where the map moves under the car, and another view from above where the car moves on the map (which is aligned north), which is my own setting.
Second to this the voice commands are clear, and the display is excellent, even in extremely bright weather. The night mode inverts the map, so that it doesn't glare, and this turns on automatically.
But at the Round about some times it speaks slowly some times, after 3 seconds it gives responce, some times i fill but all togather i give 95%,excellent performance, just need to improve on round about arrow map ,should indicate perfactly on screen with map arrow including turning point to exactly which lane arrow shoud indicate, but over all very good,if u dont have just buy it now & become tension free forever....Really worth it , my experience..... 4Star,****/5*.
Error in the small print October 23, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Bought this product and am delighted with it. Took me 5 minutes to set up and very easy to use. Also bought a nuvi 2xx 7 3xx vehicle adapter/recharge cable as it stated in 'Customers who bought this item also bought' this item. However, it was not necessary as the product came with one. It does not state this under what is supplied with the product. There is an error - it specifies a 'vehicle power cable' twice. I am irritated that I do now have two and it is not worth the cost of returning one.
