5 out of 5 stars Quality - Very Good Service Fantastic   December 3, 2008
Have been using skype for 5 years and introduced friends and families to it so I could talk to them across the Global. During the years they all got webcams and I resisted as I look crap on video! My friends and families webcams were okay but I wasn't impressed with the quality of the picture and the cost of the item.

Went on to Amazon to see about purchasing one and started to read everyone's reviews and decide to bite the bullet and purchase Logitech Quick Cam Pro 9000 webcam. I also followed everyone's comments about downloading the software off the web and sure enough I was very impressed with the quality!!! Better than my friends and families! Unfortunately they can see me more clearly than I can of them so I disguise myself as a shark when I get bored talking to them!...........Ha!

Definitely will use the company again.

5 out of 5 stars Works out-of-the-box on Linux   December 1, 2008

You'll have a right laugh taking the webcam out of the box, and removing the little piece of paper telling you that you should slot in the driver CD before plugging the camera.

Under Linux, the device uses the standard UVC driver, and doesn't need firmwares, or other garbage. The image quality is great, the microphone works without a problem and it sits nicely on top of my screen. Nice kit.

5 out of 5 stars No orange ring but still excellent   November 21, 2008

Just arrived today from Amazon. Installation very easy. Disc was v11.8. Slightly disappointed that the active ring is red but quality is still superb. Is the orange ring an urban myth - surely Amazon have up to date stocks!!

1 out of 5 stars Camera OK, but too many installation problems   November 12, 2008

The lens seems high quality, when it works, but I have had problems using the camera because it cannot be "found" by my computer unless I unplug it and replug it in every time I switch the computer on. The computer is high spec, 1 year old, running Windows XP SP3 and has never caused any problems, so I assume the problem is in the camera software. Logitech are trying to sort it out, but this is like the bad old days of computing when you spent days sorting problems out whenever you bought a new piece of kit.

5 out of 5 stars Video Review/Sample. Great webcam.   October 31, 2008

Watch Video Here: http://www.amazon.co.uk/review/R1JM5OE48WFH6L Having watched the uploaded video, I can say that the quality when you use something like Skype is probably better than this recording, especially if you're on an HD video call. The recording here is the lowest quality setting. It's important for Skype users to note that only 3 webcams currently support HD calls, and this is one of them.

Just remember that this is a recording and your video-conferencing quality will be dependent upon your Internet connection.

Because of the low lighting in the room you'll also notice the light level fluctuates slightly but that's due to the camera being put through it's paces in a less than optimal environment.

Also, it seems the videos on Amazon can sometimes play a bit pixelated, but the recording is clear so refresh the page if that happens.
