Excellent, but make sure your unit is correctly seated... January 18, 2008 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I have used this for a while and found it very effective. Then one day I hit a (speed) bump and the unit fell on to the road. It wasn't damaged, luckily, and I think I may not have clipped it properly into the holder (I noticed subsequently that if I put it in carelessly it wasn't properly secured). Anyway, to be sure I now use the short lanyard that comes with the unit so that, if it does fall out again, it can't fall far.
No other choice January 7, 2008 12 out of 12 found this review helpful
Well, you don't really get an option to buy anything other than this to mount your Garmin device to a set of oversized handlebars. It's rugged enough but it's a real shame that once the device clicks in it has about 2mm of 'slop' that the GPS can rattle about in: pretty poor design really. OK for road bike, but the rattling might drive you nuts after a while on a rough trail on a mountain bike (you might mitigate this using some silicon sealant or a small piece of rubber). Very important note: it comes with no 'device clip'; it's just a 'wraparound' for the handlebars, so you'll need to purchase the smaller bike mounting kit which includes this clip UNLESS you have an HCx unit which comes with a clip that screws into the back of the battery case as standard (mine, the Legend HCx, does).
Essential July 12, 2007 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
As the review below states, the GPS slides up and then clicks in. Initially I was very concerned that the GPS would just pop out whilst riding (mountain bike) so I used a rubber band to secure it.
But I needn't have bothered as it grips the unit very securely never letting it go even when the bike and I accidentally part company....
Does the job! June 15, 2006 13 out of 14 found this review helpful
This comes with two rubber rings of various widths which fit inside the main plastic ring which wraps around the handlebar, there is lots of scope to make sure things fit perfectly. The GPS just slides into the ringpiece after fitting a plastic cradle to the back of the GPS.
