Product Description
The epic story of The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker continues as Link finds himself lost and alone in unknown seas in a new adventure. Featuring intuitive touch-screen controls and innovative puzzles, The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass offers new challenges for fans of the series and an easy-to-grasp introduction for gamers new to The Legend of Zelda. But time grows short, and only the Phantom Hourglass can buy Link the minutes hell need to survive. Many months have passed since the events of The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker, and Link, Tetra and Tetras band of pirates have set sail in search of new lands. They come across a patch of ocean covered in a dense fog, in which they discover an abandoned ship. Tetra falls into danger when she explores the ship alone, and Link falls into the ocean when he attempts to rescue her. When he washes up unconscious on the shores of a mysterious island, he is awakened by the sound of a fairys voice. With the aid of this fairy, he sets off to find Tetra and his way back to the seas he once knew. The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass is controlled almost entirely by the stylus. Using the touch screen, players direct Links movements and attacks: A sweeping motion triggers Links spin attack and tapping characters makes Link speak with them. The stylus controls offer a more intuitive means of playing the game and open up new possibilities for puzzle solving. The game action takes place primarily on the touch screen, with a map on the top screen. However, the player can inspect the map on the touch screen and make notes using the stylus. The notes on these maps are saved for review on the top screen during game play. Players use the map to chart courses for their ships, too. Using the stylus to draw a path through the islands, players set their ships courses. Then, as the ships automatically follow the paths drawn, players can control their ships cannons to target oncoming enemies. In dun

4 out of 5 stars First legend game on ds rocks!   November 10, 2008
I've grown up with video games- mario, sonic, golden axe, bomberman to name a few. People have always raved on about zelda but i didn't want to believe the hype as i've been disapointed before. However, after a bad day, i went into a shop and saw this for 13 and bought it, even though i couldn't really afford it. Well, even though i haven't finished the game, i absolutly love it! I like how the ds features are used, especially the fishing (very different from mysims bt love it all the same) as it is challenging. Linebeck is also one of my favourite characters because of the way he is and the humour he adds to the game. Each character has their own personality (unlike some other gmes of this type i can name) and the challenges they set are great to do if you're not ready to go onto the next place. I like how you had to think of things and the way they were used (not saying what as i'll spoil it!). The story is excellent and guaranteed to keep you hooked!

As you can see, i've given it four stars- why? Because of a few minor things:
1) The temple of the Ocean king- okay, people have complained of having to do it over and over again. Personally, i liked the challenge of trying to beat my time, and it's handy being able to teleport to the 6th floor, but later on, when you have to go further, it feels a little unfair that you have to repeat so much of it again, a closer portal point would have been better. Also, don't use the blue portals- i had the unfortunate experience of finding that when i went back to the temple opening, i couldn't get back down and had to do all of it again! Very unfair! It should have been made a lot clearer, but it may be because it is my first zelda game an these have featured in prevoius games.
2) Save points- i am currently going after bellum 1 in the last part of the game, and although you can save, you won't go back to that point- it'll be in the opening of the temple, which again, is very unfair, but sort of adds to the addictiveness of this game.
3) Age rating- although it says it suitable for 7+, it may be too difficult for them. On a few occasions, after trying everything i could think of, i had to resort to a walkthrough guide (which is unlike me) but this has been only a few times. Afterwards, i felt a little dull because the answers were simple, so you really have to think in this game.
4) Jolene- how many times do you have to face her?! In the end, i thought "not again" because even though it was good to see a little of Linebeck's past, it became boring to face her over and over again. You can't outrun her so you have no choice but to face her. She's annoying!

Overall, i think it's a fantastic game with some minor problems. I've had it for a week and still haven't finished it, which i think is great. If you're after a game which is good fun but also challenges you, this is it. Let's hope the next zelda game for the ds isn't long coming out.

5 out of 5 stars Love it, love it, love it!   October 22, 2008
The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass (Nintendo DS)

This is by far my favourite game for the DS. I have played Professor Layton, which I loved...but this is just great. Great use of the stylus, you can write notes on the screen to remind yourself where to go/where to dig etc. Can't recommend it enough

5 out of 5 stars Great Game!   October 17, 2008
This was my first Zelda game and I loved every bit of it. I like how you use the stylus to run and attack enemies and use the microphone too, as well as the D-pad. I never get bored playing it even though I've finished the game, because there are things that I still haven't completed, so it's not like once you've finished there's nothing left to do. Like me, even people who are new to the series will enjoy it!

5 out of 5 stars The best game on DS   July 11, 2008
I brought the DS for this game and I really enjoyed it. It's not at all as good as Twilight Princess, but it's a very good edition to the Zelda series. I was actually going off Zelda before I got this one. You must buy this!!!

4 out of 5 stars I Love it but im stuck!   June 30, 2008
I am addicted to this game - i have had it since Christmas but have not played it for about 3 months! - i am stuck! the game itself is great but im stuck so i have just left it in my cupboard - i do occasionally turn it on to re-try but to no avail.
