5 out of 5 stars The only way for DS wifi with a WPA secure router.   November 1, 2008
When I moved to university for my third year I was disappointed to discover I no longer had the ability to wifi as the router of the house I am sharing is set to the WPA security setting. So it was a relief after suffering through a few weeks of wifi withdrawal symptoms (:|) to find out about this baby! It works well on the whole, only occassionally yielding an error message on the game I use it with (Animal Crossing: Wild World) but then I just try again and it usually works; the worst I've had to resort to was a computer restart. Ignore looking up the error codes - they're usually nonsense.
Since I don't really know of any alternatives in my situation I'd have to recommend it if you want to keep your router on the WPA setting (which is more secure than the WEP alternative) but still have the abilitiy to wifi. One major advantage is if you play your DS close to the computer in which you've inserted the usb connector, you will always have the full signal. You no longer have to be within a certain distance of your router. This is especially convenient if you use a laptop.

2 out of 5 stars Technical Issues   March 25, 2008

Bought this product for use with my Wii and was impressed at how easy it was to set up. Installed first time, but then the next day it stopped working. The device simply isn't recognised by the computer - have tried re-installing drivers to no avail. Un-installed the device and now cannot install afresh - very annoying!

I purchased the Nintendo WiFi USB for use with my nintendo Wii on the 1st March 08 and was amazed to receive it on the 3rd March 08
After having a nightmare with a cheaper USB link i took the plunge and went for the Nintendo USB,and followed the on-screen instructions on my PC,after 10 minutes i had my internet connection.
i would recommend this product to anyone with Windows XP or Windows Vista

4 out of 5 stars Hmm   February 14, 2008

Well after reading ALL the reviews on here and on other places, I decided to buy one of these, I was extremely spekitcal as to whether this connector would work.

So I plugged it in when it told me to and whatnot and it worked! I was shocked! I've had one problem where it disconnected me but I believe that could have been my dodgy wireless. Either way I'm impressed.

The only thing that worries me is how long it will continue to work, but for now I am happy. I would suggest buying one from amazon themselves, that way it can be return if you find it to be faulty.

3 out of 5 stars product works - but BEWARE compatibility   February 13, 2008
Nothing wrong with the product - except we can't use it with any security!!

One review gave us hope that we could use this USB connector with our Zone Alarm firewall, even though another review says they are incompatible. The Dark Prince says, turn it off for install but then turn it back on and it will work. So we risked buying it. Not for us - the connection is initially made then is terminated after a few seconds by zone alarm. Is there any fix for this? We have tried moving the wifi connector to the trusted zone, and even turning firewall off for the trusted zone - connections are still terminated after a few seconds. Can anyone help? What did you do, Dark Prince ??? My 12 year old son can't afford 30 wasted on this......

We have also found that if the USB connector is not properly shut down and removed with the 'safely remove hardware' function, then it interferes with using the internet. You really can use only one product at a time - unless someone can help ????
