Freeloader warning December 17, 2008 I was most disappointed. My kids got a Wii console as a present from our friend in the US. They have been desperate for new games. The problem being that all the european games available in the UK will not play. I naively believed the information on the Amazon UK site regarding the freeloader. The picture of the product or the information on the page fails to show what is in the box. The version that I got is for the EU and it says so on the box cover! but the picture on line is of a region-less product. This kind of misinformation wasted my money and my time and worse, caused a great disappointment to my kids. Beware. The freeloader itself is region restricted, so the european zone freeloader WILL NOT PLAY on a US console.
November 2008 Purchased Wii Does Not Work December 17, 2008 We just bought the Wii in November 2008 in London and some Wii games in the US while on vacation. The Freeloader does not work on this machine. We cannot play US games on the PAL version we bought. It is probably version 3.3 (the latest one) which will require a new release of Freeloader. Save yourself 10 and do not purchase until clearly marked that it will work with the November / Dec 08 release of Wii.
It's great as long you've never taken your Wii online. July 16, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
The above pretty much sums it up. I've got the US version of No More Heroes and know that as soon as I take my Wii online (which I'm not able to at the minute), that's it, the firmware update will prevent it from working. So if you're reading this as a new Wii owner (well done by the way) and are thinking of importing games, do it but just don't go on the internet. Unless of course Super Smash Bros Brawl has an update on it which renders it useless, I don't know.
The choice is yours.

Although I do not own this particular product, it is worth noting that the latest firmware update for the Nintendo Wii (3.3) has now disabled the use of this Freeloader. I was quite interested in getting one for the US version of No More Heroes but I will now have to wait until a new revision that actually works with updated Wii's is released.
Freeloader Rendered Useless June 18, 2008 17 out of 18 found this review helpful
If You upgrade the Wii firmware to the latest 3.3 update sent on June 18th then you Freeloader will be disabled.Either don't upgrade firmware or don't buy this. I bought mine a week ago and now can't get it to work due to upgrade. Beware!!!
