Amazon.co.uk Review Nintendo's original video game icon is reborn in Donkey Konga--most unexpectedly--as the modern face of rhythm-action. Donkey Kong is back, and his jungle beat is catchy as hell. As with all rhythm-action titles, the objective here is simply to keep time with the game's streamed soundtrack. Colourful visual backdrops complement perfectly the selection of pop tunes on offer. Hit the left bongo, hit the right, hit them both--clap your hands, there's a neat sensor device built into the bongo controller--and all the while enjoy non-stop celebration through the life-affirming mediums of cheesy music and eye candy. But this is not merely a pretty, lightweight game. Donkey Konga is particularly impressive because of the balance evident in its design: play well and you'll be rewarded with new credits which can then be taken to the game's shopping area, where new tracks and even new bongo sound effects can be purchased. And with four controllers, multiplayer modes for as many players can be accessed. This is a videogame musical as pure Nintendo-branded fun. --Jonti Davies

This is such fun for party or for kids March 9, 2007 We bought first the game, without the bongos. Not fun. But when we got the bongos, the entertainment was such fun. My kids loves it. Its perfect for an evening with pints and pizza. My and mye friends hands went red. Recommended!!

Sheer fun, sheer class, sheer brilliance!! March 3, 2006 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
This is a FANTASTIC game! This, in my opinion, is better than the dance mat games, it is absolutely brilliant! The songs are good, the modes, and there are a lot, like mini games, challenges, guess the notes etc, too many, but they are all excellent! Me and my g/f have had alot of fun on this and we've never been bored of it yet and don't think we will! It is good as you're either hitting the left, right, both pads of the bongo or either clapping, or getting some one else to clap for you to the rhythem. Its a laugh and you must try this to believe it! The selection of songs are quite good and there are loads to win on! Some of the songs are not the original singers but it doesnt matter, still sounds good and still rocks!!! The difficultly settings really do give you a challenge when you go up a level but thats what games are for, a challenge, but trust me, please get this game, you won't hate it I know that for a fact!!!

Oh yeah, this rocks! I'll summarise it for you, imagine one of those dance mat style games but where the notes are actually to a rythm. This is, along side Super Smash Bros. Melee, the best party game on the Gamecube. The strongest aspect of the game is of course the main battle and challenge modes (battle being head to head and challenge being co-op), though the buyable mini games and "new drum kits" provide a nice gimmick giving the single player mode purpose. So I'll leave you to decide whether you buy this game or not, but I'll tell you my friend offered his soul just to borrow it.

This is a great game. It is worth getting. The gameplay is good but single player mode is very boring after u complete all the songs. You can hear the storyline by waiting about 20 seconds at the main menu! The range of songs are good. I think the song "Busy Child" is absolutely crap. The person who sung it should be packed into a suitcase and hurled into the sea. A great game, though
